East Penn is currently seeking a Health & Safety Manager for our Metals Division to assist in the direction, development and oversight of the Health & Safety Programs in the Metals Division. Will also ensure appropriate policies and procedures to maintain controls to minimize and/or eliminate employee exposure and regulatory compliance are maintained.
Ensures the workplace is following relevant OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic audits are conducted.
Supports management and employee initiatives to promote continuous improvement in Health & Safety performance and accident prevention.
Responsible for making sure that Management & employees are educated and follow health and safety programs/ policies/procedures.
Audit program effectiveness and develop strategies for continued improvement.
Accident prevention, focus on root cause analysis to reduce risk.
Recommend controls, corrective action and implementation upon approval. Promote a safer work environment.
Analyzes causes of Metals Division workplace injuries and illnesses and near hits and reports findings to prevent recurrence.
Assist in the planning or forecasting of H&S needs such as program enhancements, staffing, and other resource needs.
Knowledge of company, state and federal workplace health and safety laws.
Will be responsible for the development and support of other H&S team members.
Supports management and employee initiatives to promote continuous improvement in Health Safety performance and accident prevention.
Periodic status reports to H&S Director and other relevant parties.
Provide additional technical and administrative support to the Environmental Health and Safety group as necessary.
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
5+ years’ experience in H&S Activity Experience in Heavy Industry preferred
Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required with the ability to provide specification for other program systems.
Individual must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, or within a team environment in a managerial role.
Education/Certifications
Bachelors’ Degree in Safety/Health Sciences/ equivalent degree or equivalent industrial experience.
Professional certification (CSP, CIH etc.). preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies
Required: Must be a team player, as well as have ability to work alone as the task requires.
Strong Communication Skills, written and verbal. Must have ability /comfort for presentations to groups ranging from informal meeting with workers on the floor to Sr Management.
Self-Starter.
Knowledge of company, state and federal workplace health and safety laws. And willingness for ongoing education.
Computer – Strong Word and Excel knowledge, email and other software & communication needs.
Ability to support and motivate others.
