Overview

East Penn is currently seeking a Personnel Generalist for the Pennsylvania Logistics Division plays a critical role in supporting the employee lifecycle, with a specific focus on interviewing, onboarding, and integration of new hires and transfers. This role serves as a liaison between the Personnel Recruiting Team, Employee Relations and Logistics leadership to ensure smooth transitions and consistent employee experience. The role will work closely with supervisors and new employees to facilitate communication, process adherence, and early engagement initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

    • Communicate New Hire/Transfer Requirements:
      Partner with supervisors to ensure all pre-onboarding and transfer requirements are communicated and completed prior to start or transition dates.
    • Coordinate New Hire Introduction Calls:
      Schedule and conduct introductory calls with new hires to welcome them and provide essential information about their roles and the logistics division.
    • Organize New Hire Lunches:
      Plan a weekly new hire lunch to help new employees build relationships and integrate into the team culture along with the Dedicated Learning Partner (DLP).
    • Conduct Weekly New Hire Interviews:
      Meet with recent hires to gather feedback on their onboarding experience, identify improvement opportunities, and escalate concerns as needed.
    • Maintain and Monitor New Hire Transfer Checklist:
      Ensure all items on the checklist are completed in a timely and accurate manner during internal transfers. 
    • Facilitate Evaluations/Training Documentation:
      Schedule and support meetings between employees and supervisors to complete training forms, evaluations, and development plans.  Monitor evaluation process and help triage any issues with Personnel Coordinator.
    • Lead Onboarding Projects for New Hires:
      Design, implement, and monitor onboarding initiatives and engagement activities that enhance early employee retention and productivity.
    • Confidentiality: Must maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive employee information and adhere to all data privacy and Personnel compliance standards.

 

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

 

  • 2–4 years of experience in HR, onboarding, or business analysis preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Icims/Dayforce) and onboarding platforms a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused mindset.

 

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.

Skills & Competencies

 

Technical & Systems Skills

  • ICIMS or ATS Proficiency – Ability to navigate, update, and manage job requisitions and candidate records in ICIMS or similar Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • HRIS Knowledge – Understanding of Human Resource Information Systems for maintaining employee data.
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Strong Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint skills for tracking, reporting, and communication.

Recruitment & Staffing

  • Interviewing Techniques – Skilled in behavioral and competency-based interviewing, especially for clerical and specialized roles.
  • Candidate Screening – Ability to assess qualifications and alignment with role requirements.
  • Job Requisition Management – Knowledge of posting, updating, and closing requisitions in staffing systems.

Communication & Interpersonal

  • Verbal & Written Communication – Professional and clear in communicating with supervisors, new hires, and cross-functional teams.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Experience working with department managers, personnel partners, and new hires to align staffing and onboarding needs.
  • Presentation Skills – Comfortable leading new hire meetings, training sessions, or onboarding events.

Process & Project Management

  • Detail-Oriented – Ability to manage checklists, forms, and documentation accurately.
  • Process Improvement – Identify and suggest enhancements to onboarding or staffing workflows.
  • Time Management – Handle multiple priorities such as coordinating interviews, onboarding sessions, and form completion.

Analytical & Problem Solving

  • Data Tracking – Monitor staffing and onboarding data for trends and compliance.
  • Issue Resolution – Address onboarding issues raised in new hire interviews and take corrective action.
