Overview

The role of Logistics Technology Continuous Improvement leads continuous improvement efforts to support Transportation strategies and Logistics Division objectives ensuring East Penn’s Transportation systems and processes are continuously optimized, driving on-going service and cost improvements to meet or exceed Division goals.

Responsibilities

Acts as a ‘steward’ and accelerates the time to value and ROI for all Transportation-related software products and processes including, but not limited to:

  • Transportation Management System (Transport Mgt/TM – carrier; Route Planner/RP – fleet)
  • Driver Mobile Communications (Mobile)
  • Fulfillment Planning Application (FPA)

Leads Continuous Improvement efforts to support Transportation strategies and Logistics Division objectives (meeting or exceeding all Service and Total Delivered Cost performance targets)

  • Supports and champions a ‘performance mindset’, focused more on outcomes than activities, by helping department leaders facilitate daily KPI scorecard/dashboard reviews
  • Identifies root causes, creates feedback loops and implements corrective actions for all gaps between planned and actual performance (i.e., bottlenecks, delays, cost leaks, etc.)
  • Monitors process and policy compliance from Fulfillment Planning through On-Time Delivery to ensure transportation processes are reliable, repeatable, and sustainable, enabling near-flawless execution

Ensures that all users fully adopt, integrate and assimilate Transportation software through effective training, post-implementation audits and on-going system ‘health checks’

  • Acts as an advisor and advocate for all users, including Fleet Drivers, to ensure their voices are heard and acted upon (i.e., questions, concerns, ideas for improvement)
  • Verifies all employees are educated on how the system makes decisions and WHY, so they can use it to manage exceptions, and achieve optimal balance of service/cost goals
  • Audits user performance to validate all systems enable processes to be planned and executed as designed

Ensures system integrity and design is upheld, advanced, and continuously optimized

  • Continuously reviews and fine tunes software configurations and processes as business and customer requirements change
  • Supports/leads future software implementations, upgrades, and functional enhancements, ensuring that new capabilities are ‘stood up’ quickly
  • Helps develop and implement a flawless Master Data Management process, including archiving old data, continuously updating rates and resources, etc.

Develops and implements a structure and process for Level 1 software triage support for end users, including the following capabilities:

  • User concern diagnostics and tracking (software defects, configuration, or training issues).
  • Corrective action and vendor support escalation guidance (using decision trees when possible).
  • User self-service knowledge base repository and continuing education accessible to end-users for information such as, system design, integration, common issues and how to resolve them, FAQ&As and search abilities.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred; equivalent level of education, training, and experience may be considered

Experience & Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of related experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment, required
  • East Penn work experience that includes knowledge of EP procedures and practices
  • Prior experience with transportation planning software
